How to Root your Xiaomi Mi 3 using the Developer ROM v2

Step 1: Go to the official MIUI download page. CLICK HERE

Make sure that WCDMA/CDMA China is highlighted. See image above.

Step 2:  Select Download Full ROM and save the file to your computer. Make sure you are downloading the latest Developer ROM.

Step 3: Transfer the file to the root folder of your internal sdcard.

Hint: If your computer is not able to detect your phone then turn on USB debugging. Try a different USB port if it is still not working.

You can access that through Developer options. Tap Build number 7 times to  enable it.

Step 4: Rename the ROM file to update.zip
Step 5: Go to recovery mode. Power off your phone first. Press and hold power and volume up to access recovery.

Step 6: Select English.

Step 7: Select Install update.zip to System One and confirm install. Reboot device once installation is complete.

Step 8: Wait until the progress bar is complete.

Step 9: Once it's done and back on the home screen. Go to the Security application and select Permission then toggle Root permission to enable root.

Step 10: To prove that root permission is enabled you can download Root Checker Basic at the Play Store application. Once you have this confirmation then you are done!
