How to Root and flash CWM on your Xiaomi Mi 3

Step 1: Download Chainfire's SuperSU flashable root package. CLICK HERE

Step 2: Download Furniel's CWM with TDB. CLICK HERE

Step 3: Put both files in the root directory of your internal sdcard.

Hint: If your computer is not able to detect your phone then turn on USB debugging. Try a different USB port if it is still not working.

You can access that through Developer options. Tap Build number 7 times to  enable it.

Step 4: Go to Updater application and press the menu button to find Select update package. Confirm that option.

If you're unable to locate where the Updater application is then proceed to About phone and select System updates.

Step 5: Navigate to your internal sdcard to find the CWM zip file.

Step 6: Select Update to begin.

Step 7: Wait until the progress bar is finished then select Reboot to finish to continue.

Step 8: Wait until your device reboots and goes back to your home screen.

Step 9: Power off your device and boot to recovery. Press and hold power and volume up button to access CWM.

Step 10: On the main menu choose install zip then choose zip from sdcard. Highlight /0/ directory and select the SuperSU root file.
Step 11: When we flashed CWM earlier through the Updater application it rebooted to System 2 because it was the inactive one. That's normal when you use the Updater application. We want root to be on System 1 so select that one.
Step 12: Wait while root permission is being set. If there's a message after asking to fix root on System 1, select Yes.
Step 13: Once SuperSU has been established, change boot system to System 1.
Step 14: Go back to the main menu and proceed to Advanced. If you see ENABLE TrueDualBoot then TBD is disabled. Press that option to turn it on. When asked what method to use, select Wipe data as the option.

Step 15: It should look like this once you have boot set to System 1 and have enabled TDB. Go ahead and reboot system after this. Select No when asked to root System 2.
Step 16: You will notice that SuperSU is already present in one of your home screen. The application manages root privileges.
Step 17: Download Root Checker at the Play Store application to confirm you have root access. Prompt should be like this. Once you have that then you're done!
