How to Root your Xiaomi Mi 3 using the Developer ROM v1

Step 1: Go to the official MIUI download page. CLICK HERE

Make sure that WCDMA/CDMA China is highlighted. See image above.

Step 2:  Select Download Full ROM and save the file to your computer. Make sure you are downloading the latest Developer ROM.

Step 3: Transfer the file to the root folder of your internal sdcard.

Hint: If your computer is not able to detect your phone then turn on USB debugging. Try a different USB port if it is still not working.

You can access that through Developer options. Tap Build number 7 times to  enable it.

Step 4: Go to Updater application and press the menu button to find Select update package. Confirm that option.

If you're unable to locate where the Updater application is then proceed to About phone and select System updates.

Step 5: Navigate to your internal sdcard to find the ROM file you transferred and select it.

Step 6: Select Update and hit Start update to begin.

Step 7: Wait until the progress bar is finished then select Reboot to finish to continue.

Step 8: Wait until your device reboots and goes through another progress bar.

Step 9: Once it's done and back on the home screen. Go to the Security application and select Permission then toggle Root permission to enable root.

Step 10: To prove that root permission is enabled you can download Root Checker Basic at the Play Store application. Once you have this confirmation then you are done!
